'I decided to become a governor as I really wanted to have a greater involvement with the running of the school. An important part of the role, for me, is to represent the parents, sharing information both ways when needed. In my opinion being able to pull on personal experiences, and the experiences of the parents I speak with, in meetings, adds a useful dimension to the governing body.

'Things have changed an awful lot since I was at school so I have found being a governor is a great way to really get to know how the school operates.  It has been a real eye-opener to discover the huge amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure our school continues to be successful.

 Being a governor means I am able to contribute to the success of the school.  The governing body is made up of a real diverse group of people who are all able to bring different viewpoints, skills and experience.  This ensures that we don't just accept things as they are but we challenge to see if we can do better.' 'As a governor, I enjoy gaining a deeper understanding of the way the school is run and the way the education system works. I feel this gives me a clearer picture of how my children are being educated in a broad sense and right down to the thinking
behind specific day to day lessons and activities they do within and outside the school day.
I enjoy meeting with other people who also have the school's best interests at heart. It gives me a real feeling of satisfaction when school does well - whether it's individual pupils, members of staff or the whole school.
